Program Note
read, shred, repeat. (2026) targets cognitive devolution in humanity from the use of artificial intelligence. What does this reality render us who have become reliant on technology for basic tasks? Artificial intelligence is weakening human brain functions. What are the problem solving capabilities of future generations should we ever change this fate?
Artificial intelligence is a printer and humanity the performer. The performer inserts paper into the printer just as basic human functions are imprinted onto A.I. . This entrainment generates musical material for the performer, and the refinement of artificial intelligence is exponentially increased with every print and interaction. The ending scene prompts a future which is surpassed by or devoid of technology, and imposes a quiet reflection on what we will have become.
